MANILA, Philippines - The state weather bureau today warned residents of Davao and two more areas in Mindanao of more possible flashfloods and landslides.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said in one of its advisories this morning, the prevailing Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) may bring scattered rainshowers over Visayas and Mindanao, particularly in Surigao, Agusan and Davao.

In another advisory, PAGASA also warned residents in northern areas in Palawan and Albay of widespread rains that may trigger flashfloods and landslides.

In its 6 a.m. report today, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said a total of 29 people have been confirmed killed by the rain-triggered flashflood that hit Davao City Wednesday night. Three more people remain missing.

The flashflood displaced a total of 12, 746 families form five barangays and damaged P11 million in properties. – Gelyka Ruth Dumaraos, Philstar.com Trainee
