Some things are not meant to be

There are things in life that no matter how we want them, we can never have them because some things are not meant to be.

When my son Reymond and his wife Grace became American citizens, they wanted to petition me and my late  husband so we can live with them. I was interested and too excited to join them, but my husband declined. Now, when I looked back, there is a tinge of regret why I didn’t grab the opportunity but I have accepted the fact that  it was  not  meant to be. Maybe God has other plans for me.

The “Awakened Heart Project” website declares,  “Some things are not meant to be. Some people are not meant to be. What once was – is no  longer.”

There are lots of reasons why some things are not meant to be. Here are some insights pointed out by our source:

Life and opportunity. You have countless opportunities throughout your lifetime, and you’ll meet so  many different people  throughout your lifetime as well. Some of these people will come into your life and stay forever. Others will barely leave an impression.  Some  will stay awhile and leave you behind, leaving you feeling saddened and empty.  We try desperately to make some of these relationships and opportunities work out, but sometimes it’s just not meant to be.

Plant metaphor time. Think of these people and these opportunities as plants. Some plants are only meant to last  for a certain  season, or a certain period of time. If you try to make them live longer,  you’ll be a bad gardener. Now just because certain  plants (i.e. people, jobs, opportunities, etc) may have an expiration date and were never meant to last forever, doesn’t mean they were a waste of time or meaningless.

Meaning  and Purpose. Everything has its  purpose, and meaning. People and experiences come into our life for a reason – stay for a certain period of time, and teach us certain things. There is always a reason to be learned.

We all have manual. Each person in this world comes with his or her own unique feeding manual. You have your own needs and speeds of growth. Pay attention to yours and others. Remember, everything  has its own phase.

Spiritual teacher and inspirational writer Maya Angelou has this food-for-thought: “I’ve learned that no matter what happens, or how bad it seems today,  life goes on, and it will be better tomorrow.  I’ve learned that regardless of your  relationship with your parents ,you’ll miss  them when they’re gone from your life. I’ve learned that life sometimes gives you a second chance. I’ve learned that whenever I decide something with an open heart, I usually make the right decision. I’ve learned that every day you should reach out and touch someone. I’ve learned that people will forget  what you said, people will forget what  you did, but people will never  forget how you made them feel.”
